Tyler Childers at Merriweather Post Pavilion

Tyler Childers has been performing and making music since his teen years. At age 19, he released his debut album, Bottles and Bibles, and a couple of EPs. By 2017, the country and bluegrass performer dropped his sophomore effort and first breakthrough album, Purgatory. The album received wide critical acclaim and performed impressively on the Billboard charts, peaking at number 9 on Top Country Albums, three on The Top Independent Albums, and two on Folk Albums charts. One year after the release of Purgatory, Childers received the award for Emerging Artist of the Year at the Americana Music Honors Awards.

Childers’ follow-up effort, Country Squire, was released two years later. The album topped the country and folk albums chart and U.K.’s Country Albums chart. The album contains several hits, including “All Your’n,” a single nominated for Best Country Solo Performance at the 2020 Grammy Awards. This 2023, Childers will be touring in support of his latest album, Can I Take My Hounds to Heaven? The album, which peaked at number 8 on the Billboard 200, features several gospel covers, including “Jubilee,” “Joyful House,” “Old Country Church,” and many more.
